Understanding Western Pennsylvania’s Air Pollution Problem

During 2005 – 2011 period, the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Statistical Area ranked among the five worst US cities for year-round and short-term particulate pollution. In two of those years’ annual assessments, the region had the dubious title of worst in the country for short-term particulate pollution.
