Global mortality from outdoor fine particle pollution generated by fossil fuel combustion: Results from GEOS-Chem

Summary

Fossil fuel combustion emits fine particulate matter (PM2.5) which is harmful to public health. It is estimated that an additional 10.2 million global excess deaths occurs in 2012 due to PM2.5 pollution, primarily in India and China.
