Break Free From Plastic
Nearly one year ago, train cars filled with over 100,000 gallons of vinyl chloride traveling from an Occidental Chemical vinyl plastic plant dramatically derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, and were subsequently burned. This set off a massive environmental health disaster that continues to have devastating impacts today. On Jan 25th, learn how the production, use and disposal of vinyl chloride and other chemicals used to manufacture polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic have affected communities from Mossville, Louisiana to East Palestine, Ohio. We’ll explore solutions to this dangerous plastic and how we can work together to ban this poison plastic. This webinar comes at a time when the U.S. EPA is expected to consider whether or not to ban vinyl chloride under TSCA, and U.S. states are expected to introduce legislation to restrict PVC in 2024. We’ll share how folks can get involved in these campaigns.
