Metcoke World Summit 2023 – Rally at Frank Mae Pace Park, Pittsburgh

The Met Coke Summit has historically provided industry with an opportunity to convene for a conference around coke, coal, and steel industries for over 20 years, hosting attendees from around the world.

The SWPA environmental community plans to have a presence there as well, with the goal of staging a rally and press conference. The rally will be held at the Frank Mae Pace Park in front of the hotel.

Local organizations that will speak and rally, calling out the health harms of coke manufacturing pollution in the Mon Valley, including  412 Justice, Black Appalachian Coalition, Voices for Clean Air Now (VCAN)

In addition, organizations and residents will address Norfolk Southern’s financial support for the global coking summit while residents living near the East Palestine derailment are still suffering in the wake of the accident. Join East Palestine Unity Council, Rail Pollution Protection Pittsburgh, Sunrise Pittsburgh, 350 Pittsburgh and Climate Reality Pittsburgh and SWPA and call out climate change impacts of coking and these injustices! Instead of cleaning up their mess, Norfolk Southern is using their money to sponsor international industry events.
