Beyond Burnout & Bypass: Mindfulness for Environmental Activists

FREE

Date

Oct 14, 2023

Time

10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Venue

Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh

Organizer

Awaken Pittsburgh

Awaken Pittsburgh’s Mindful Connections for Healing and Justice presents Beyond Burnout and Bypass for Activists.

About this gathering:

It feels as if we have crossed a threshold, doesn’t it? So much is on fire. And our own nervous systems, hearts, and bodies can become enflamed, too.

We hear a call to gather, reflect, nourish, heal, and deepen for the long road ahead.

For those protecting lands, for those working for justice, for those in service to a more beautiful world…it is time to gather and support each other in the Western PA region.

We will cultivate an open space between burning out—exhausted and disheartened—or bypassing—ignoring and denying. What is this space for you and your communities?

We welcome you to join us on Oct. 14 as we engage with one another in this query.

Details

Date/Time: Saturday, October 14 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. A generous break for lunch will allow for continued fellowship and rest. Plan to bring your our lunch or purchase food at a nearby establishment.

Location: Room 202 at the Squirrel Hill JCC. Entrance to the building is via the parking lot underneath.

This day of supportive practice will include trauma-informed mindfulness, collective conversations, and inquiry. We encourage in-person attendance if possible, and offer an on-line option in order to support those who could not otherwise attend.
