Join Families for Equitable School Funding and special guest, Molly Sweeny of 482Forward for an interactive training on power mapping—a critical organizing tool for advocates.
This webinar is designed for parents, students, caregivers and community members who want to better understand who holds influence, how decisions are made, and how families can play a role in shaping them.
During this session, participants will:
Learn what “power mapping” is and why it matters
Explore how decisions that impact public schools are influenced
Identify where families and communities have a voice
Gain practical tools to feel more confident engaging in advocacy
No prior experience is needed, just a desire to learn!
Did you know, in 2023 the PA Commonwealth Court ruled that Pennsylvania’s current public education funding system is unconstitutional and called on state officials to devise a new funding system to fulfill the state’s obligation to provide a thorough and efficient education for its children. Take a deep dive and learn more from our coalition partner PA Schools Work.
This event will be presented in both English and Español!
About Families for Equitable School Funding (FESF) – We empower families to join the fight to ensure public schools serving black and brown students are well-resourced. We believe families are essential voices in the fight for educational equity. FESF creates welcoming spaces where parents and caregivers can learn how education decisions are made, better understand systems of power, and build the confidence to advocate for the schools our children deserve.
