Allegheny County Public Hearing: Mon Valley Public Health and Welfare Funds & U.S. Steel Air Quality Settlement

Notice is hereby given that Allegheny County will conduct a digital town hall and public hearing to gather input and feedback regarding ACED’s administration of the Mon Valley Public Health and Welfare Funds, including application criteria and process, projects funded, and future funding rounds.

The Mon Valley Public Health and Welfare Funds were established as part of a settlement agreement with U.S. Steel following the 2018 fire at the Clairton Coke Works.

The purpose of the funds are to support public health or air quality improvement projects that have a direct, tangible, positive impact on public health or indoor/outdoor air quality in the Mon Valley communities located near U.S. Steel’s Clairton Coke Works, Edgar Thomson Plant and Irvin Plant (“the Facilities”).
