At the Tuesday evening DEP public hearing, the Ambridge Water Authority, through General Manager Michael Dominick, flanked by three of his board colleagues, made it clear that the AWA has rejected Shell Pipeline’s repeated requests for an easement to cross the water authority’s raw water line and watershed. The AWA stated that the reservoir territory was a high consequence zone, and a Shell pipeline failure at the raw water line or at the tributaries to the reservoir would "create a situation of dire results and potentially be irreparable." This showing of courage and responsible demonstration of authority should be noted and replicated by other governmental officials in the region. The auditorium erupted with sustained applause at the end of the AWA’s testimony, by far the most applause of any presenter during the evening.
