Has your home retained its comfort during the super cold weather spell, or were you among those Pittsburghers who struggled with temperature swings and shivered in their very own living spaces? Polar Vortex 2019 has tested many of the homes in the area. One of the most common problems was that of furnaces not able to keep up with the extreme heat loss through the building walls, windows and cracks. But this problem has a solution and now is the good time to investigate what can be done!
Conservation Consultants, Inc., a local non-profit has partnered with Pittsburgh Park Conservancy in organizing a “Polar Vortex” Energy Efficiency Fair, to be held on March 3, from 1-4 pm, at Frick Environmental Center. Experts will be on hand to answer homeowner questions, equipment and materials used in home efficiency improvements will be on display, and you may even be quizzed on your building science prowess. The event is kid friendly and participants can hope to win a free energy audit ($375 value) in a raffle.
